Blacksmith ShopFurnished almost entirely with the tools of pioneer Prince George Blacksmith John Banzer (1902-1991), the Blacksmith Shop boasts a fully functional forge! Built on the site suggested by early pictures of the Fraser River trading post, the shop is actually a small hollow from Huble's original property, on Ed Seebach's preemption. It is believed that the Blacksmith Shop was originally built by Ed Seebach and Al Huble sometime prior to 1911. The Blacksmith Shop you see today was recreated at the homestead in 1995 based on information gathered from old photographs.
Blacksmithing was a necessity to keep their teams of draught horses shod and their wagons and carts in good repair.
Come by on weekends and see our Blacksmith, Mike Hardeman, craft horseshoes, nails, equipment and farm implements of the period. |
