Huble House Centennial

The Huble house was built by Albert J Huble in 1912, which means that next year, 2012, the oldest building in the Regional District of Fraser Fort George will be turning 100 years old! We have a whole year of events and commemorations planned, and we want you to be involved!

As we solidify our plans, updates and more information will be posted to this page, so check back often!

Community Cookbook - We are currently seeking contributions to our anniversary cookbook! We are looking for the recipes that have been passed down through your family that you still make and enjoy, and we want you to tell us the stories that go with them too! Submissions are due by October 31, and can be submitted online, or you can email them to recipes (at) hublehomestead.ca.

Restoring the Huble House Temporary Exhibit Our Curator is hard at work creating a new temporary exhibit about how the Huble house was restored by volunteers. This exhibit will be on display in our Welcome Barn all season long, beginning May 21, 2012!

Children's History Book - We are very excited to announce that the Society has written and will be publishing a local history book for children! Geared to children aged 3-7, it will be a perfect keepsake for local children, a great gift for readers of all ages, and a wonderful way for children and parents to explore a part of Huble Homestead's history at home! The book tells the story of how Mr. Huble built the house for his family, and is illustrated by local artist June Swanky Parker. The book will be launched at our season opener, Victoria Day long weekend, 2012! We can't wait!

Many more plans are in the works, so check back here for more to come! Do you have idea about how you'd like to see the Huble house commemorated? Contact us to tell us about it!
