Spring on the Homestead

Join us in opening the homestead for yet another season! Embrace our outdoor spaces and take a step back in time this Victoria Day long weekend!

Visit the site to explore the buildings and General Store; learn more about the history by taking a self-guided tour, or participate in the self-led treasure hunt activity that focuses on the work settlers like the Huble family would do in the spring. Discover more about the garden by checking out the first of this summer's pocket exhibits.

Pre-register starting May 12 to take part in old-fashioned heritage demonstrations like ice cream making and butter making on the Sunday and Monday, and interact with our Curator as she plants the garden on Saturday. She'll tell you all about the vegetables we're planting in the garden this summer. Sign up to take part in a traditional May pole dance - staff will instruct your family on how weave the ribbons with ease. On Sunday, register in the Welcome Barn to take part in the scarecrow building competition, with the winning creation receiving the honour of being on display all summer long in the garden.

Flex your creative muscles at the craft station by signing up and receiving your materials in the General Store, then heading over to the designated craft area to take part! This station will be monitored and sanitized by our staff, but please note the activities are designed to be done by the visitors alone. The craft kit can also be done at home.

Bring a picnic lunch along, or treat yourself to a meal from the BBQ. Enjoy a delicious slice of pie from the General Store, and don't forget to peruse our new selection of locally made goods!
