2020 Self Led Activities

Our events may be cancelled, but that doesn't mean your visit to Huble Homestead has to be any less enjoyable!

We plan to offer visitors a different treasure hunt every week, and new self-led activities every weekend for the entire summer!

From Monday to Thursday, enjoy self-guided treasure hunts that will help you explore the site.

From Friday to Sunday, take part in a different activities that will enhance your enjoyment of the homestead!

Activities are included with an admission donation - check in at the General Store to pick up your envelope of supplies! If you'd prefer, you can also print out the corresponding activity sheet prior to your visit - downloads are available below.

Admission to the Huble Homestead is by donation. Your donations are put towards programming, collections, and site maintenance. The suggested donation is:

 

Adults - $5.00

Children and Seniors - $3.00

Family - $10.00

 

Your donations help us provide affordable activities at events and maintain the historic site.

July 1 - 5

 

Dominion Day Passport - Using an itinerary, explorers will make their way around the site, finding the different provinces and going for a trip across the country! Once completed, travelers can make their way to the General Store for a prize, and keep the passport!

Dominion Day Treasure Hunt - Using a brochure, and your wits, solve clues to find the locations listed on the treasure hunt! Each location has a letter - write them down, then unscramble them to form a phrase. Once completed, head to the General Store to get your prize!

A to Z - Explore the historic site and pay attention to your surroundings as you try to find an item or building for every letter of the alphabet! The more you fill out, the bigger the prize!

July 6 - 12

What Doesn't Belong - Explore the buildings and displays of the historic, and keep your eyes peeled for items that don't belong! The Huble family lived on the homestead in 1910, but this weekend we'll be adding in things that wouldn't have existed back then - let's see how savvy you are when it comes to technology!

July 13 - 19

I Spy - Another activity to test your eyes! Get a list of items that have been hidden throughout the historic site, and see if you can find where all of them are! 

July 20 - 26

 

Self Guided Treasure Hunt - Using a map, a brochure, and your wits, solve the riddles to find the locations listed on the treasure hunt! Each location has a letter - write them down, then unscramble them to form a phrase. Once completed, head to the General Store to get your prize!

Scavenger 'Saturday' - This self-guided event for will be available from Friday to Sunday, and will challenge visitors to not only find a list of items, but complete a list of tasks! 

Please note that if you have done this activity before that it has been modified to allow for reduced direct contact with communal items.

 

July 27 - 31

Then & Now - Compare the differences between the way the Huble family lived in the early 1900s, and how we live today! Participants will receive a booklet to fill out that will highlight the many changes to technology and ways of life!

Huble 'Birdwatching' - There are plenty of real birds to look at Huble Homestead, but this self led hunt will have you exploring the homestead to find twelve different birds. Keep your eyes open! Each bird will have a word with it; fill out the sheet with all twelve, and turn in your completed work for a prize at the General Store!

June 15 - 21

Father's Day Treasure Hunt - Using a map, a brochure, and your wits, bring Dad out for this special themed treasure hunt to celebrate him! Solve the clues to find the locations listed on the treasure hunt! Each location has a letter - write them down, then unscramble them to form a phrase. Once completed, head to the General Store to get your prize! This hunt will be available all week in case you want to get a jump on Father's Day!

Animal Tracking Activity - Just like the birds, there is a lot of wildlife around the homestead! Find the tracks to ten different animals and birds around the homestead, and write down where you find each of them! Once you have successfully found every set, take your completed sheet to the General Store for a prize!

June 22 - 28

Self Guided Treasure Hunt - Using a map, a brochure, and your wits, solve the riddles to find the locations listed on the treasure hunt! Each location has a letter - write them down, then unscramble them to form a phrase. Once completed, head to the General Store to get your prize!

Sherlock 'Saturday' - This self guided event for the budding sleuth will be available from Friday to Sunday! Quickly becoming a visitor favourite, this activity will lead participants to different spots and buildings throughout the site, as they work to find a treasure by using their eyes, not their hands, to find and examine clues.  Don't worry - you can still take notes!
