Dominion Day

Take a trip back in time and join us in celebrating July 1st the old-fashioned way!

Embrace the charm of the past with heritage demonstrations, live music, and other timeless activities. Experience how Prince George would have celebrated in the past by taking part in races and contests for all ages. Learn the history of the homestead and Prince George through tours and an exhibit, then celebrate Dominion Day with the entire family with complimentary birthday cake to mark Canada’s 157th birthday.

Our old-fashioned Dominion Day celebrations kick off with a pancake breakfast that runs from 10:00 to 12:00! Take a self-led or guided tour to learn the history of the historic site, then take part in heritage demonstrations such as ice cream making and butter making with our staff.

Pick up your "passport" and explore the historic site to "visit" all the provinces and territories, or get your treasure hunt and seek the clues for your prize! If you're feeling competitive, you can compete in the eating contests or take part in the old-fashioned races! Finish off the day by playing some old-fashioned games or by making a festive craft in the Welcome Barn.

Treat yourself to a slice of birthday cake, on us, at two different points throughout the day. You can bring a picnic to enjoy beside the scenic Fraser River, or get a hot dog or hamburger lunch from the barbeque - your choice. Don't forget the General Store is open for sweet treats and locally made items!

The union jack flies at Huble Homestead.

Huble Homestead Historic Site is a 30 minute drive north of Prince George, BC. Leave the city behind and make your way up Highway 97 for 40 kilometres, before turning off on Mitchell Road to continue another 6 kilometres down a well-maintained dirt road.

Huble Homestead is dog friendly and open daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm for guided tours and shopping in the General Store. Enjoy a picnic or purchase lunch from the BBQ as you relax in the fresh air. Admission is by donation, with a recommended amount of $10.00 per family.

We acknowledge the financial assistance of the Province of British Columbia.
